Monday, May 9 -- Weekly Fishing Report for Minersville Reservoir

"A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work".

The water temperature is still 56-58 deg. There have been some stormy days this past week with wind and rain. Irrigation water is now going out of the reservoir, so the water is dropping a little each day.
The midge hatch has dropped off this week. About noon time each day, there is a large brown mayfly hatch. About that same time, there is a gray mayfly hatch. The trout are not on the surface after these mayfly hatches.
The trout seem to have moved out, off the bank, as the shore fishing has been quite slow. A lot of good "bows" were being caught by the tubers fishing deep, in front of the dam.
The bass guys are getting a few 2-3 lb. "smallies". There have been schools of wipers cruising along the dam and in the coves near the boat dock. A 5 lb. wiper was taken at the boat dock on a #16 zebra midge.
In general, the fishing was great, but the catching was poor from the bank.
