Emergency Management Explained
The Beaver County Emergency Management Department is used to plan for, coordinate responses to, and recover from major emergencies and disasters. This is done through the efforts of:
- Cities
- Counties
- Local, regional, statewide, and federal:
- Agencies
- Partners
- Resources
Classification of Various Events
Emergencies, major emergencies, and disasters are different:
- Emergencies are smaller contained incidents that are handled by a single response agency and their partners.
- Major emergencies exceed a single agency’s capabilities and require multiple response partners working together over a limited period of time.
- Disasters exceed the capability of all the county’s resources combined and require assistance from the state and federal government.
